You can’t see it (fortunately) but there’s a pool of my vomit on the ground to the left of that tree. I got there after a ride in a small helicopter with Stoney, a guy who herds cattle from the air for the stations around Middleton in outback Queensland. He’d very kindly let me come up with him one morning and I was shooting everything I could see because who knew when I’d get an opportunity like this again. The trouble was, I get sick in planes (I’m even worse in boats) and being in this small and highly manoeuvrable helicopter that he was tossing all over the sky like a leaf in a hurricane was too much for me. He dropped me off at the top of this rocky hill so he could keep working and I threw up, took a few deep breaths and had a look around.
