Karijini Stream, Western Australia
Karijini Stream, Western Australia
‘What is it?” Is what most people ask and the short answer is water over rocks. The longer answer is that I was at Fortescue Falls in Karijini National Park (Western Australia, near Tom Price) and you walk into the place at the top of the water stream and have to step over a few small streams that, a bit lower down, become the falls. As I was stepping from rock to rock over this stream I noticed the different colours of the moss (or slime or whatever it is) the rock and the water and thought, ‘that looks nice’. So I spent a half hour or so shooting it from this angle and that and this is the one I liked best. I originally printed it in landscape format but every time a customer picked up the print they would turn it around so it looked like this. After seeing this happen a dozen or more times I came to think they were right so I changed it.
