Yarra Valley, Victoria. It’s not easy to get a shot of a koala on the ground walking towards the camera. It’s relatively easy to get a shot of one walking/running/climbing away from you because they do that a lot. I tracked this guy (males have a dark chest patch) through dense forest for a half hour or so trying to manoeuvre myself into position to get the head on shot but he’d always just go another random direction and I’d have to scramble around and try to anticipate his next move. Finally as he was crossing this clearing I was able to run ahead, lie down and fire off a few snaps before he disappeared into the bush again. It was tricky but a lot of fun. Notice they have two thumbs?
