St Kilda Harbour
As so often happens, I didn’t head out that night to get this shot but was after something completely different. It’s not often that I’ll go out with a specific image in mind and actually come back with it and not something else. On this night I wanted the little penguins that nest in the rocks at the end of St Kilda pier. I didn’t see any, got bored waiting (I have no patience - I’d be the world’s worst wildlife photographer) and started looking around. I shot this as a long exposure (you can see slight motion blur on some of the masts) on the tripod from the end of the pier looking across St Kilda harbour to the city.
