Shot this (and all the koala ones) when I lived out in the forest in the Yarra Valley, a couple of hours east of Melbourne. We had 85 acres and I loved photographing the koalas that came through the property. If I was lucky, if the dog wasn't around and if they weren't carrying a joey, sometimes I'd be able to get close enough to give them a little pat. When they’re on the ground (which isn’t that often) they can be a bit skittish because that’s when they’re most vulnerable, but once they’re up a tree they can seem more curious than worried.
