The Apostles, Victoria
This shot took a long time to come about. It’s a simple shot to take once you’re there (after you elbow all the other photographers out of the way), it just needs the right light and that’s the hard part. Every time I'd come here it would be terrible light - thunder storms can be good, a few scattered fluffy white clouds is good - anything but the dull, overcast grey skies I kept getting. It’s also better to try this shot in summer than winter because the sun sets further to the left so you’re getting more of that nice, warm light on the cliff face and not into the camera. Finally, on about my sixth or seventh visit, I got this shot and I'm pretty happy with it. Which isn’t to say I won’t keep coming back - there are many good shots to be had all around this part of the coast.
