What Are You Lookin' At?
Yarra Valley, Victoria. If I told you I managed to get 30cm away from this mother and her joey because of my skills in dealing with wildlife, I’d be lying. It’s true the camera was only inches away but I wasn’t. I used a painter’s extension pole with the camera rigged on the end so I could stand on the ground and get the camera close without scaring them off. The problem is that because they’re so high and I’m standing directly beneath them it’s hard to see exactly what I’m shooting. I’d set the camera controls, extend the pole and click away using a remote, then I’d scroll through the images and see 20 shots of her left foot. There’s a lot of trial and error involved in this method but when it works it’s worth it.
